Education

I have Bachelors of Science degrees in English Education, Special Education, and minors in Linguistics and Reading. I attended Millersville University for 4 years. In my time there I worked several jobs while maintaining a 3.4 grade point average or above each year. I currently teach at a high school in Harford County, Maryland in the Special Education Department co—teaching in English and Study Skills.

Experience

I have over 5 years tutoring experience and have been teaching with a certification for the last 5 years. I have held several positions in both public and private schools, as well as, the middle and high schools levels. I have tutored students ages 6-21 and taught grades 5-12 in English Language Arts, Reading, Read 180, Writing, American Literature, British Literature, Creative Writing, and World Literature. I have experience with SAT, HSPT, ACT, Praxis, and Pearson exams. I have also tutored student preparing to take their GED. I have taken continuing education courses in testing, working with small groups, 1:1 teaching, and student motivation. I am currently a member of the National Council for Teachers of English, Harford County Education Association, and Maryland State Education Association. I am also a member of the Coordinating Council which brings in student teachers from Notre Dame of Maryland.

Hobbies

I am a mother, wife, and pet owner. I enjoy baking, taking my son to the playground, and reading. I love animals and the color yellow. I previously played soccer and danced competitively. At my current school, I have coached girl’s lacrosse coach and been a part of several committees within the school. I am currently taking part in AVID and the Coordinating Council which places and monitors student teachers.
